Works by old masters Jun 01, 2010
I'm not a big art buff, but I do enjoy spending a lazy afternoon in an art gallery. The Gemäldegalerie Alte Meister (Old Masters Gallery) has works by older European artists such as Lukas Cranach the Older and the Younger, Peter Paul Rubens, Nicolas Poussin and others from Germany, France, Italy, and Holland. The two most famous paintings are Raffeal's "Sistine Madonna" and Giorgione's “Sleeping Venus”.

Most of the paintings have explanations in both German and English, some just have titles in German and a small few have only German explanations.

A normal ticket costs 10€, while a reduced ticket is 7.50€. Using the coat/bag check is 0.50€ and an audio tour is 3.00€ (but very informative and in several different languages). There is a small gift shop and a modest cafe on site.

For anyone who likes art, or who just likes to walk around art, this is a good place to visit!
