Leidseweg 90, Utrecht, Netherlands - +3130-2910492
Geldmuseum - Exterior of both the Royal Dutch Mint and the Moneymuseum. Last is on the left with the big doorway.
Geldmuseum - Text says: 'Het Geld hier uit Metaal verkregen Zij nooit ten Vloek doch steeds ten Zegen'. In English: 'The Money here obtained out of Metal be never at Curse yet always at Blessing' It's older Dutch, so translation might be a bit off.
Geldmuseum - Central hall, down the 3 steps through the door you'll find the 'Gulden Middenweg' a path laid with guilders. They're not being used any longer, so they're worthless, but still this is the most expensive carpet of the country.
Geldmuseum - Part of the 'Gulden Middenweg' the most expensive floor of the country and maybe of the world. You'll find coins worth, 5, 10 and 25 cents also of 1, 2,50 and 5 guilders.
Geldmuseum - The only room as it was build back in 1911. Here you'll see old, and new ways of payment. Differcing from sword like coins, bars of salt, coins as we know them, paper and bank cards.

It's all about the money Sep 27, 2010
Dutch prices are allways low, accept in Amsterdam.

This museum is all about money, how people spend it and what it does to people. It shows money from the past and the present. And not just money, but fakes too!

You can even see how it's made! From scratch up to the minting proces! You'll see that this minting factory is still being used and not just only for Dutch coins.

Children can play severall video games (most of them are very interesting for adults too) and watch some video's about the minting proces. These interactive games and videos are more important for the museum then the coins, bank notes, cheques and other pieces of money. So the phisicall museum is losing its importance here. This means the signs are in Dutch, as well as the games. But most of the guids do speak English (some beter then others). They can tell you very interesting details about the building itself. There is some very interesting history to be told here.

Because of the minting proces you are NOT allowed to make photographs in the museum!

I recieved special permission for my training period/internship like period to make photos.

It is nice you received special permission to take photos but, WHERE ARE THEY??? :D I bet a photo of the exterior is allowed. If you post that, it would help me to find the building next time I go to Utrecht :)
