Gelbingen Lodge Reviews
Welcoming Sep 19, 2009
A Himba clan settled on the land of Andrea and Volkert, the Gelbingen Lodge and Farm. They organize trips to this little village every day. We were asked not to take pictures of the Himba people wandering around the Farm, only during the visit to their huts. This visit was a colorful experience: you could wander around their huts and see how they live. In the beginning this is a bit weird, you feel a bit of an intruder.
Andrea and Volkert made us feel real welcome at the Gelbingen Lodge, which is located about 30 km from the town Kamanjab. They run a fantastic place. We booked here for one night, this includes dinner, breakfast and the trip to the Himba people. Volkert repaired some minor problems we had with our little camper, no charge! The afternoon we relaxed near the inviting swimming pool and before dinner we walked to the Himba village with two other couples.
Dinner was buffet-style and was really scrumptious. After dinner the bar was the place to be!
We had a terrific time here!!
