Perfect place to stay if you like to be in the center Jul 11, 2012
I've stayed at Geiranger Camping several times already and I will come back for sure.

It's the perfect location if you wanna stay several days in Geiranger for hiking, boat cruises or other activities.

The campground is located in the center of Geiranger and a grocery store, souvenier shops and several restaurants are in walking distance. The staff is always nice and helpful.

Checking in was done very fast and we had to find a place by ourselves. They place is divided by a river and connected with a bridge. Behind the bridge is a bigger place to stay but sanitary building and kitchen is in front of it next to the check-in.

The sanitaries are clean but when the weather is lousy and the place is crowded the staff can't clean it as fast as it is necessary. So it sometimes seems dirty but it isn't.

The standard is avarage. There's a kitchen and washing up facilities as well as 4 washing machines and 4 dryers. If you wanna use it you need 20 NOK coins to feed them but they work great :)

The location is pretty cool. Nearly from every place you stay you have a view on the fjord and the incoming cruise ships, ferries and Hurtigruten ships.

Right behind the campground is a dirt road leading to Homlong where the Homlongseter hiking trail starts.

For me it's a perfect place to stay :)

If you spend your day outside most of the time, no matter if it's rainy and cold or hot and sunny, a hot shower is the high Point of the day ;) And there's nothing worse if the sanitaries are dirty.

You have a fixation with sanitary buildings in this and other recent reviews. I can understand and it became a mindful thing to me on Africa Safari in 2011. I found myself judging a campsite on it's sanitary facilities!

It might not be a problem in other places but since Geiranger is located in a narrow valley surrounded by high mountains it can be a problem when the clouds are low in the valley and the exhaust fumes can't draw-off.
