The temple of bliss, Apr 24, 2013
Of the many temples in Ipoh the best known limestone cave temple hidden in a valley abutting a mountain lies this serene secret garden of bliss. Keh lok Tong I was told meant eternal happiness and this limestone caves temple quietly lives up to its name.It is set in peaceful surroundings away from the town and its traffic. We were greeted by the chirpy little sparrows and camera shy squirrels running up on the branches to stand up on its hind feet to take a look at you to then once again run away into the vast expanse of lush garden.A beautiful garden with very many limestone rock arrangements placed at the sides of the stairs leading to the temple surprise you and make you forget your other worries as you walk into the central landing holding three big bronze statues of Buddha. The many hundred years of limestone rock formations hanging above you in the large caves are fascinating and you walk through a tunnel to the other side of the mount into a small pond fed by a perennial stream.

Once inside the cave we felt a quite peace overcoming our senses and the experience was as soft as the cool breeze that blows inside the cave.

The mount is mineral rich and the powerful mineral companies have been kept out of destroying this beautiful place by the peaceful residents of the neighborhood who maintain the temple and the gardens with the sanctity and cleanliness it deserves.

As we slowly walked back to our car,to return to our place of stay,we looked back and Gea Kek Lok Tong truly meant to us its name;which was bliss.
