Gdański Bowke Gdansk Reviews
Gdanski Bowke Aug 30, 2013
Gdanski Bowke – pronounced Bov-ka, I think, is another nice restaurant on the waterfront in Gdansk. It’s roughly mid-market, and does very nice food and good beer on a pleasant patio by the harbour. The service was excellent when I was there. Prices seemed about average for places we ate in Poland. The food was nice, although erring on the side of quite heavy. The big draw is, of course, the fantastic location on the historic harbour front. Eating whilst watching the tourist pirate ships and the little yachts come in and out of their moorings was lovely.
As a post script, I haven’t been able to find out what a Bowke is, which is a shame, because Bouk is Scots for the verb “to vomit or wretch.” And that is a very inappropriate thought to have in such a nice restaurant, so if anyone can tell me what the word actually means I’ll be very grateful!
