Gdansk Poland Feb 22, 2017
I arrived in Gdansk by train as part of a journey around Poland.Trains are run by PKP and Gdansk is on a main line. Trains go to Warsaw,Poznan,Krakow and Berlin. Gdansk s history is over 1000 years, the earliest mention was 957 AD.---Edena House is a fine example of Manneris style with a high gable.--- Gdansk shipyard is famous through out the world, has being the birthplace of Solidarity in 1970, which brought Lech Walesa to be leader then President of Poland 1990 - 1995. I stood at the gates, there are still flowers laid today.---The medieval Crane is by the river Mutlawa, and unique in Europe, built in 14h century is a landmark.---The old Town Hall was opened in 1895.---The street Ulica Mariacka is a fine place of artists and writers.--- Gdansk is set between the Baltic coast and the hills, with a pretty riverside to walk along. These are just some of the great places to visit in town, i also went to Hel by train from Gdansk. I stayed at the Mercure hotel 2 nights then moved on by train to Poznan.
