Amazing collection Nov 03, 2010
Gawthorpe Hall is in my neighbouring county of Lancashire. it is owned by the National Trust but rented to Lancashire County Council.

It is essentially an 18th century house, although it was much remodelled in the 19th century by Sir Charles Barry, who was the architect for the Houses of Parliament.

I guess I have been as heathen as most men about such things as embroidery and needlework but even someone like me must recognize that in the Kay-Shuttleworth Collection they are seeing something special.
