Presumably you don't want to hire a car, which would be the quickest way!As far as I know, there is no direct public transport between Gatwick and Cheltenham, and in particular no scheduled air service. If you want to travel by train, then if you are very lucky with the timetable you will only have one change, at Reading. More likely is that there will be two changes, at Reading and Bristol. Alternatively you could travel via London, but the problem then is that you will have to change from one main line terminus to another, and that will involve either a very expensive taxi, or an unwelcome bus or underground journey, which can be absolute hell if you have a significant amount of luggage.Another, and perhaps better, option is to go by National Express coach. You can through book, but would have to change coaches at Heathrow. The advantage is a frequent service, and always having just one change. Other things being equal, I think that that would be my choice, on the grounds of simplicity. The coach is normally cheaper than the train, unless you can get a special advance ticket, but the price will probably be horrifying, whichever option you choose. And allow 3-4 hours for the journey. Good luck!
