Gasagalur - Jun 24, 2008
Gasagalur is a very tiny village north of Vagar on the single track section.

Until recently the only way to get here was by track but the new tunnel through the adjacent mountain has brought the road to Gasagalur.

The village itself does not have too much to offer in the way of attractions but that is the attraction itself!

It really is forgotten and untouched - the landscape on a summers day in the sunshine is stunning!

Lovely views can be found across the sea to Mykines and the tunnel drive is also worthwhile .. this one being toll free!

Its really funny .. they must love tunnels as much as the swiss!!!

So if your visiting Vagar and Mykines I would recommend the extra km and visiting Gasagalur.

Isn't it called Gasadalur? It tsruck us as quite amazing looking back to the walk the postman used to take pre-tunnel. Interesting that although the tunnel was not constructed until 2004 there is a vehicle outside practically every house.
There are good close-ups of puffins from the path on round the cliffs.
