Garuda Wisnu Kencana Monument - Cultural Park May 23, 2010
This a place worth seeing because Garuda Wisnu Kencana monument is the largest mega-projects under construction in bali and located in an abandoned and unproductive limestone quarry; a good place for take some picture-if you like photography :). Located in Unggasan village, Uluwatu-Bali this site was designed as an area that will display works of art and culture. Projects built since 1997 and is expected to be completed in 2005, has run aground in the middle of the project because of funding. In this area also will be standing 150 meters tall Lord Vishnu statue with its wings span 64 meters across. Made by an artist was born in Tabanan, Bali, Nyoman Nuarta, the culpture are made from a mixture of copper and steel. Weighing 4,000 tons, consisting of 6000 parts. This time the statue has only reached an altitude of about 18 m.

Getting there was easy though, 20 minutes from Kuta - 10 minute from Dream Land Beach and 15 minute from Blue Point Beach (surfing beach), many local people can show you a direction; many taxi driver can take you there too, but don't forget to ask the taxi driver to pick you up again, because it isn't easy to found taxi. Or if you driving car by your self, don't forget to bring a map, you can asked a map to the local tour guide. The park is open daily from 8am to 10pm, and charges an admission fee of Rp. 15,000.

My recommendation the best time to visit these attractions are in the morning; between 8am-11 am or afternoon after 3pm, to avoid the heat of the sun.
