Situated in central New Delhi, Gandhi Smriti is a sight that is dedicated to Mahatma Gandhi. It was the sight where he was assassinated.

The sight is a wonderful learning place if you are remotely interested in the life and teachings of Gandhi. The visuals and information were comprehensive, and I think they have a good balance of stuff which would please every visitor (regardless of their interest or background knowledge).

I particularly liked being able to see Gandhi’s personal effects. It’s hard to imagine that the little pair of glasses or simple watch were actually worn by the man himself. You can also visit his meeting room, and take the same walk to the prayer area where he was assassinated. The assassination spot is marked very clearly with a footpath and a simple monument at the spot.

I found the visit to be very inspiring and informative. Though it was very positive about Gandhi, almost too biased and lavish, I suppose this is to be expected!

No matter whether you were a fan of the man or not, he had quite an influence on India. Highly recommended.
