Father of Nation's memorial Feb 04, 2012
Gandhi Madapam, Memorial of Mahatma Gandhi, Father of the nation, is situated on the shore of Kanyakumari beach. Mahatma Gandhi visited Kanyakumari twice in 1925 and 1937. After his death in 1948, an urn with ashes of Mahatma Gandhi was kept here for public to pay homage before immersion. Same were immersed in the sea waters in Kanyakumari.

This beautiful memorial building constructed in such a way that, Mid day sun of 2nd October would fall on the peedam through a hole in the roof. We can enjoy the aerial view of Vivekananda park, Thrivalluvar statue and near by places from the roof.

Entrance is free. There is a place to keep the footwear for a small fee at the entrance and Foot wear is not allowed inside.
