Fine old buildings Sep 09, 2010
In the 19th century Bergen was a large and important town almost entirely consisting of wooden buildings. As it became apparent that the way of life was passing into oblivion, something like 50 buildings were brought together to this museum, only a short bus ride from the centre. Most were from Bergen itself but some were brought from other parts of Norway.

You are able to see the outside of the buildings whenever the museum is open but the interesting tours, that are your only way of getting into and learning about the old shops may be infrequent in your language - unless you are Norwegian. It must be worth a phone call!

Personally I found the old barber's shop and the baker's the most interesting.
