Gamla Stan Area - Stockholm - TravBuddy

Dear Old Stockholm..
For the last three summers I have ended a field trip in Stockholm.Coming down from the northern area between Norway and Sweden its so nice to visit Stockholm. The 'Venice of the North'with its cool 'canals and bridges' everywhere. Its so CLEAN and fresh. They say you can even catch salmons in the city. Every year we end the trip with a dinner in Gamla Stan-the food in Sweden can otherwise be bland and expensive-but here there's so many small cafee's and restaurants. Try out 'Carpe Diem' fx. for great Italian food then stroll on and see the Nobel Academy,the Castle,the churches and small streets.

Ps. I might add that the last three years we (Me and my two boys, age 8 and 10) have stayed in a luxury hotel in Stockholm called 'First Amaranten', located right in the middle of the city. They always have summerdeals...Imagine for the three of us..500 dkr total; inclusive a huge breakfast(including Japanese-style breakfast as they have big tours coming through)
