Gadong Vacation Guide

Gadong, the word derived from an old word Gedung which means treasury. Gadong is located about 10 minutes drive (more or less depending on the traffic) from the capital city of Brunei, Bandar Seri Begawan. Although Bandar Seri Begawan is considered the central business district of Brunei, Gadong gains its reputation recently as being the most happening place in the country.

With more shops blooming in the area like mushrooms, Gadong is quickly becoming one of the busiest place in Brunei. There are two well known hotels here in Gadong namely The Centerpoint and the latest top-of-the-notch hotel, The Rizqun International. The two hotels are popular among tourists coming to Brunei due to their strategic location.

Gadong is also the melting pot of all famous international flagships such as Kentucky Fried Chicken, Pizza Hut, Jollibee, The Body Shop, Mc Donalds, Profitable Asset and many more. Traffic can get very busy during peak hours i.e lunchtime and 5pm onwards.

At night, Gadong will turn into a different face as it is a very popular hang out spot for youngsters. You will be able to hear cars passing by with speakers blasting at full volume (enough to make you deaf!) The locals dub them the moving music stores.

Hungry? Gadong is the best place to hunt for food as there is a number of restaurants around serving different types of food from silverware dining table to smokey foodstall street food which is available at the open air night market which is walk away.
