Gaborone Vacation Guide
The capital of Botswana and a city of just over 200,000, "Gabs" is easily the largest and most important city in the country. In fact, it is Africa's fastest growing city. With the largest airport in the country and close proximity to the South African border, Gaborone is where many people begin their adventure in Botswana.
Admittedly, Gaborone does not offer too much for the tourist however. Instead, most travelers only spend a very brief amount of time in Gaborone, en route to other parts of the country. Still, there are a few things to see in the city. You can see many goverment buildings clustered in the city center next to the Main Mall and visit the nearby National Museum. There are also a few shopping malls in the city, rare finds anywhere else in the country if you're looking to make any purchases. In addition, there are a couple other nearby sites that make for an interesting visit, including the Oodi basket weavers cooperative and Matsieng footprints.
