GO Transit Toronto Reviews
Public Transportation from Niagara to the Greater Toronto Area Aug 23, 2011
GO Transit is a public transportation entity that primarily operates in the Greater Toronto Area connecting with the cities of Toronto, Mississauga, Barrie, Oshawa, Hamilton and the Niagara region.
GO Transit operates buses and trains with many trips originating out of Union Station in Toronto with connections to TTC (Toronto Transit Commission - subways and buses). In Mississauga, travelers can easily connect to Mississauga Transit.
>>>>> Some Things to Know:
1) Tickets at Union Station and some stations can be purchased at a customer service station. Tickets have a 4 hour expiry and tickets do not have to be validated.
2) You can bring bicycles aboard trains and put them on buses.
>>>>> Going to Niagara Falls?
1) Service is available from Toronto (Union), Mississauga (Port Credit, Clarkson) along the Lakeshore West train line and use the bus at Burlington Station. The fare is $14.50.
Use this schedule: "12 Niagara Falls GO Train & Bus"
2) Seasonal Service is available on summer weekends (FRI, SAT, SUN).
As with NJ Transit, I found the trip planner with Google to be less than useful. I found it better to play around with the schedules on the website.
GO Transit buses and trains were clean and modern and I would use their service again. I am thankful I did not have to deal too much with the QEW on my recent visit :)
