GCS Ballpark Sauget Reviews
Minor League Park, Major League Food! Sep 21, 2010
The GCS Ballpark is home to the Gateway Grizzlies, Sauget, Illinois' minor league baseball team. In 2010, the stadium is celebrating 10 years in operation, and it is a nice facilitiy. The best part is the food. "Baseball's Best Nachos" -- philly cheesesteak nachos, and they are amazing. Red, white and blue tortilla chips with cheesesteak meat, optional grilled peppers and onions, all drownded by cheese sauce. YUM! Plus, the "best burger in baseball" -- a bacon cheeseburger with a with a krispy kreme donut as the bun. It was interesting to say the least, a little too sweet, but good. Plus, I highly recommend the waffle fries!!
We didn't have tickets ahead of time. We just walked up to the ticket counter for that evening, and managed to get seats behind homeplate. That's the great thing about minor league baseball, greats seats at a cheep price. These tickets were just ten dollards each. It's a great atmosphere, with games and entertainment between innings.
The GCS Ballpark is easy to find, conveniently located on 255, just a few miles south of I-64. I didn't even have to OnStar it. Plus, there is no fee to park.
