Füssen is a charming town located in southern Bavaria, only 5 km from the Austrian border. Lying amist the Alps, Füssen is mostly visited for its proximity to both Schloß Neuschwanstein and Hohenschwangau, King Ludwig II's castles. However, there is much more to enjoy in this beautiful alpine village.
In Füssen, you can enjoy walking in the small pedestrian street, shopping for gifts and enjoying a nice restaurant. Rest with a nice bavarian beer in a Biergarten and you will be glad to have come in that picturesque little town.

Fairy tale castles indeed! OK, I admit I was a little sceptical about how beautiful this castle could be, as everyone had raved on about it, but even I, the cynical critic, was flabbergasted. Left Salzburg and travelled for several hours to reach Fussen in Germany. Met a couple of people at the train station who were staying at the same hostel as me, so we decided to walk there together. An unmarked white van pulled up and the lady in the passenger seat jumped out and asked if we were staying at House LA (the hostel we'd all booked to stay in.) My 21st birthday. For my birthday I wanted to look around the inside of castles Hohenschwangau and Neuschwanstein. We bought "Kings Tickets" which allows you to see both and saves you a few euro. First we went on a tour of Hohenschwangau. It is a most enchanting castle. The tourguide was very funny too. Ludwigs bedroom was really sweet.
