Fungus Rock San Lawrenz Reviews
Not just any old rock Jul 29, 2009
Yes, I know it's a rock, but it's not just any old rock.
This rock is steeped in history dating back to the Knights of St John. We were told that the fungus that grows on this rock was used for medicinal purposes way back then, and as it was valued so much by the Knights they guarded this rock day and night. Any person trying to steal the fungus received the harsh penalty of a death sentance. Personally after seeing such a massive rock in such an isolated place I have no idea how anyone would begin to scale the face of it in the first place!!
The area around this rock again is a haven for scuba divers due to its gullies and fissures and also the array of sea life that is found, including sea urchins, and various fish.
As it's in the same area as the Inland Sea and Azure Window I thought that it was worth a mention.
Part of the list Places not to be missed - Malta
