Fun in Darjeeling!!! Reviews
Darjeeling: A silent hill Station Mar 22, 2009
Apart form the political trouble which I should add is only for Indians, it is a safe place to visit.(even for Indians)
If you are in Darjeeling do feel free and bargain a lot in the Markets which are famous for the winter clothes.
If you are a Buddhist art connoisseur this is a heaven for you. there are about 12 Buddhist monasteries housing some of the rare manuscripts of Buddhism.
Darjeeling provides loads of breathtaking sites.Best way is to hire a car and stop at the not so popular places and see the beauty of mountains in solitude.Also carry a sheet to spreadout and drink beer with your friends at these sites.
In Darjeeling you can go trekking and water rafting.
Trekking tours are organized for 6 to 12 days covering a walking length of 200 kms.
For water rafters you rapids of the 4th level in the ferocious river Teesta.
Do not rely on the professional photographer there he does not take any pictures of your team.Check his camera before you hire him.
-----> GangaMayah Park
Probably the coolest place according to me.
The most fun thing here is to jump through the rocks and go downstairs do not use the paved paths.... there..it is an ultimate location for jumping on rocks in a river and travelling down the valley.. and in the end of all this jumping is Lord Shiva temple..(small not famous)
It was really fun jumping on the rocks..
-----> The toy train
It is a world heritage train..It is in Guinness Book of World Records for being the a train running at the highest altitude.
Apart from this it takes the biggest curve at the highest altitude.
Do hop on this train and enjoy the scenery !!!!
book your seats in 1st class otherwise you will suffer.. and travel through it from only the half stops..
