Good hostel in Fukuoka Nov 10, 2009
I stayed at Fukuoka Youth Hostel for one night. This hostel is clean, but does not have much atmosphere. The rooms are mostly private 2-bed rooms. The beds are okay. The showers are clean and there is also a bath. Internet facilities are free, there are two internet computers and there is WIFI available. This is not really a place to meet fellow backpackers, it seems more like a place where people stay for business or family visits.
The hostel is about 30 minutes walk from the train station Hakata but there is a bus-stop nearby. There is no breakfast or dinner facility, but a Lawson convenience store is just around the corner. |

Quiet hostel in Fukuoka Nov 11, 2009
The Fukuoka Youth Hostel is located in Fukuoka, near a busstop but 30 minutes walking from the JR-station (if you like walking). From the busstop it's not difficult to find, the friendly staff will help you if needed. The hostel has some Pachinko nearby, but also a Lawson next door.
The hostel itself is clean and quiet, all rooms are for 2 persons. It's a problem if you're alone: you got to book a 2 person room. Shower/toilet are shared, a (small, but not hot!) bath is also available. Internet is free, wireless too. Coin-laundy is possible, 100 yen each. I've been here two times now, but both times it was very quiet. It has some sort of living room in front, but don't expect a lot of people here... Breakfast is possible (well, on my first stay, not the second), diner is not. |
