Fuji-Q Highland is an amusement park located in the Yamanashi province of Japan, located near the base of Mount Fuji. It has several famous thrill rides in which many tourists from all over the country can enjoy. There is a diverse assortment of rides that appeal to visitors of all ages.

With Mount Fuji as a nearby landmark, it is a convenient nearby access with entry fees of 1400 yen ($14) for adults and 800 yen ($8) for children. It is a bit of a trip to visit there by car and even by train, and only recommended as a side trip for those who primarily want to visit Mt. Fuji.

After visiting there twice, I am not quite convinced it deserves the hype that it is the "Best Theme Park in Japan". It is certainly a massive and an attractive destination. It pays homage to popular themes and bears many artistic set pieces of famous anime cartoons and other buildings and statues. Hours of operation adjust seasonally. There are many restaurants and other gift and drink kiosks littered throughout the park.

While the rides have are reputable for their thrill intensity, particularly the Fujiyama and Dodompa rides, the wait time for most of these rides are extremely loooooooooong. The excruciating wait time is often topped off with spurts of heavy rain. Japan often experiences a sporadically wet spring, summer and fall. The park does provide visitors with a plastic rain vests. Sometimes the weather causes delay in the rides. When we visited both times, my wife and I were only able to enjoy two rides each and then gave up in the afternoon after excessive waiting.

Aside from my complaints about Fuji-Q Highland, the rides are worth the wait, but to a certain extent. I wish I can like this more let alone fully recommend it and Fuji-Q suffers from the same symptoms as other theme parks with the wait time I've experienced in the west. There are certain attractions there that are worth seeing at the very least, but not enough to go out of your way for.
Long line!

Good to hear it was worth the wait and rain delay (at least to a certain extent, as you say).
