Driving to the end of the freeway would have to wait. I had to make a pit stop at Ft. Bragg to check in. But there is no way you can drive that much of the interstate without going the whole distance, so at the end of checking in, I headed back to interstate 40.

We left the Giants of the woods, wanting to see the ocean. Going south meant right turns were in order. Ah-ha, at Legett on Rt 101, a sign read Rt 1; off we went,44 mi. of 180 degree switch-backs over 2 mountain ranges; 10-15 mph was the norm, no guard rails & at the tree line the mist or clouds. My arms were tired of turning the wheel, and there were the pesky locals who enjoyed riding our rear bumper both up and down the mountain. Eventually we got to the sea!
