Frome's Labour Monument Reviews
A freedom mark for the Jamaicans Apr 29, 2011
One of the sights mentioned in the guide books is the Fromes Labour Monument in Frome. The monument is situated just on the main junction where the sugar canes are transported in to the sugar processing factory. This is the place in town where the traffic was most heavy due to all the sugar cane transport coming in and parking is not permitted and you are fined pretty heavily measured in Jamaican standards if you do.
The monument was raised in remembrance to the Labour leader Alander Bustamente and the Workers for their courageous fight in 1938 on behalf of the Working People of Jamaica.
I guess this monument has great symbolism for the Jamaican people.
