From west to east in Lofoten Reviews
Aug 02, 2007
Lofoten from the west to the east:
We started by boat from Bodø to Moskenes. The Moskenesstream is the worlds strongest stream and can even drag boats down in to the sea.
Å is a very nice place in the end of Lofoten. You got to walk out to the end after the parkinplace to enjoy the view over the end of Lofoten. Also go for a short walk trough the village.
Reine is the most photgraphed and painted place. Its very nice.
Sakrisøy is a small nice island. Buy traditional Norwegian food from Lofoten here. The shop at the dollmuseum is having a great Fish and Salmonburger.
In Borg they have rebuilt a Vikinghouse. Here you can see how the Vikings lived and worked for real. Great place. they are making Viking food and cloths. Don't forget to walk down to the lake and see a real Vikingsmith. There you also can row a fullsized Vikingship at 1 pm every day.
Nusfjord is a must. Pay 30 Nok and sea the hole town. Walk in to the shop from 1907. Its still working the way it was a houndred years ago. Only 17 people still lives in the town. There is no work for the youngsters any more. This town will die out soon.
Svolvær is the capitol of Lofoten. Go to the Turistinfo for whalesafari. We vent out from Stø in stead of the bigger and more comercial Andøyacompany. You have to book for the next day. Three hours fantastic drive from Svolvær to Stø. Nok 780 for adults- 420 for children. Great crew on the boat. Take the pill you'll get there. Almost everyone went ill at sea.
We did see lots of big, big whales, seals and birds. If you do like hillwalking/climbing? Ask for the Svolværgeita and pictures from "The jump". Something for you?
It's probaly a lot more to see, but theese are my highlights.
Enjoy your trip!!!!!
And send me a smile if you liked this short report :-)
