Reminiscent of Frank Lloyd Wright Dec 28, 2012
Titirangi translates to "fringe of heaven" which makes perfect sense after staying in this lovely accommodation! We had a level to ourselves in the Manukau suite with its perfect views of the bay looking into Auckland and private lounge and spa. The house was designed by Bill Haresnape who seemed quite inspired by Wright. If we happened upon Falling Waters as we tooled around Titirangi, I wouldn't have been too surprised. Of course that didn't happen, but we did find a nice towel warmer in the bathroom...almost as magical for some of us.

Beverly and Julian are the hosts who made us feel at home instantly. Over wine, beer and cheese, we talked about our upcoming adventure, how Beverly grew up in Liverpool (ask her about Ringo!), and Julian's appreciation for all persuasions of the culinary arts. In fact, Julian makes an amazing harissa which complements the fantastic homemade bread they serve at breakfast! Should you be so lucky to stay with these folks, bring 'em a can of chipotles and tell 'em, "Melissa knew you needed these."
