Fribourg (French; German: Freiburg or Freiburg im Üechtland but mostly Fribourg) is situated about 28km South-West of Bern. It is the capital of the District de la Sarine (district of Sarine) and the Swiss canton of Fribourg. It is an important administrative, educational with a bilingual university German-French, and economic center on the cultural border between French and German Switzerland. It is situated on both sides of the river Saane/Sarine, on the Swiss plateau. Fribourg’s Vielle Ville (Old City), sits on a small rocky hill above the valley of the Sarine and is one of the best maintained in Switzerland. The charming Old City with its café’s attracts to spend some time there and shop.
Cultural experiences include the festival of religious music, the international folklore convention, the jazz parade, an international film festival and Cinéplus. Counterculture also finds its place through the Fri-Art art center, and Fri-Son, for rock and punk music.

Don't forget to eat some yummy fondue moitié-moitié" (French for half-half) with half Vacherin Fribourgeois and half Gruyère.
