Friar Tuck's Bar & Grille - Pomona - TravBuddy

Friar Tuck's is located on Foothill Blvd. just west of Claremont in Pomona. The outside of the bar is shaped into a castle and it looks very unique as you drive up. Theres ample parking around the bar and in the back. The security guards are usually pretty fun but they will check for ID. This bar hosts a lot of locals and I've definitely seen people I've grown up with show up here. Beers are best value in a pitcher. Domestic pitchers are $6.75. The main draw to Friar Tucks besides all the flat screens providing pretty much whatever sport is on, is the stage. Local bands and bands from all over southern California show up to play at this small venue. It can get loud and crowded. The nights vary. You can have head banging music one night and then a country/rock mix the next. Punk bands come and bring all their friends. The music is interesting and you will either have really good music or really bad music.
There is an outside patio but I've never been in it. There is 3 pool tables for your playing pleasure. There a downloadable jukebox for when the bands not playing. In California there is no smoking in any public establishments but Friar Tucks looks the other way and ashtrays are provided. One of the few places in this area that will let you.
If you get to the point where you don't like the place or the music directly across the street is a Hi-Brow. Another good watering hole for the younger locals.
Last bit of advice, get a DD. Cops like to watch this bar and will look for drunk drivers. The bar will call you a cab if you need one. Drink responsibly and have fun!
