great dining experience in the heart of downtown St. Helena Aug 10, 2012
We had a brunch at this stylish place. Because it was hot day, we choose seats inside.

This is not a French restaurant.

The restaurant’s name comes from the blue doors which graced the entrance of the former Vanderbilt’s Home Furnishings, for more than 50 years. Now, there is an illustration of a country peasant-looking boy, too, painted in blue on the dinner plates, plus on a tall corrugated metal sign on the side of the building. Restaurant was opened in May this year.

Restaurant has the patio and outdoor fireplace. A large open kitchen with a wood burning oven and grill.

Soaring ceilings, hardwood floors, expansive windows make the decor warm, bright, welcoming and relaxing. Super comfortable rattan made it hard to leave.

Bar with good choice. Wines are interestingly sourced from all over the California wine map.

They are using only the best local ingredients to make simple flavorful dishes. All ingredients are house-made from the charcuterie to honey and jams.

Highly recommend to try "Chicken Liver", as the starter. It tastes so good!!!

The fried olives was good too. Wood baked lamb meatballs in a hot souce -delicious. And desert was perfect, big portion, possible to share. I tried chocolate mousse with raspberries. Highly recommend.

The staff was dressed in stylish white tops and blue jeans. Nice looking and professional.

It is a perfect place with a great menu and everything cost under 20 dollars. Recommend for everybody.
