French Bakery Bucharest Reviews
Nothing special Jul 25, 2010
The French Bakery is located on the Str Smărdan among all the trendy cafés and restaurants. At first glance it looked like a nice French street café. The inside is small and tastefully decorated in brown and beige. The outdoor dining area is set on the cobble stone street.
The restaurant serves typical French café food such as croissants, pain au chocolat, quiche, salads, sandwiches, cakes and ice cream They also serve hamburgers and musaka. The musaka was served in a wooden box. The cakes were tempting and the salads were large. I had the tuna & tomato quiche which was good, but the salad that came with it consisted mainly of cabbage. Not my kind of salad.
The French Bakery was quite busy, which I really didn´t understand. At first it looked nice, but the waiters did not support that first impression. They did their job, but that was it. Nothing was done with a smile or with friendliness. No one ever asked me if I enjoyed the food either. My quiche was good so such a petty with the lack of good atmosphere.
It was overcast and about to start to rain, so the waiters were more preoccupied by collecting all the cushions in the outdoor chairs than attend to the guests.
The place is cheap, my quiche and coke came to 18,5 lei (€4,6), but if they don´t shape up this café can easily be missed!
