The best thing about Lag Vegas!! Mar 23, 2012
What can I tell you!! This place is amazing!! If you are looking for the real Vegas experience then look no further than Glitter Gulch. I was disappointed to learn that on the strip all slot machines have now been replaced so you can no longer have your pot of quarters and play the slots old style!

But, in Glitter Gulch you can!! I reveled in having my huge pot of quarters and playing the pull down slot machines just like in the movies! I even spotted an old American Granny gambler poking her head round the corner for my machine. It was fantastic! I went with $20 to spend and gamble away and I just couldn't get rid of it for winning on these amazing machines.

Also, just like on the strip drinks are free with the odd tip of course, so if you want a flutter but don't fancy spending a fortune and want the Vegas slot experience Glitter Gulch is certainly not to be missed.

This was by far my most favorite place in Vegas!!

The alternative bright lights of Vegas Jun 16, 2011
The Fremont Experience is the bright lights of Vegas presented in a different but enthralling way. Located in the Downtown area of Las Vegas, this is the original Vegas where it all began. This is the original 'Glitter Gulch' where famous old hotels and casinos like Binion's, 4 Queens and The Golden Nugget started the whole Vegas empire as we know it.

Today Fremont Street is pedestrianised and is covered by a canopy with a difference. The canopy is made up of 12 million LED lights that come together to display the most amazing choreographed light and sound show every hour, on the hour from dusk until midnight.

As well as this there are official live performers such as Carl Ferris whose 'Safe Sax' saxophone performances each night have become legendary. There is also a zip line ride, shops, stalls, street performers and lots more to see.

There is a great vibe about the Fremont St Experience with a party atmosphere and a friendly laid back feel. If you're going to Vegas this is a must see attraction and the fact that it's all free is a bonus.

Fremont street was where Las Vegas began. In fact, the now famous Plaza Hotel at the corner of Main and Fremont was the original site of the Union Pacific Railroad Depot, and where freight and passengers still use the only railroad station inside a hotel-casino.

Back in the mid 1990s when the “Strip” really began to go through a major building phase the businesses of the old downtown area got together and tried to figure out what they could do to keep the tourists coming to their part of Las Vegas. This is what they came up with.

The Fremont Street Experience starts right at that intersection and goes for five blocks along Fremont Street. This $70 million dollar light canopy, which spans the street some 90 feet above your head using more than 12 million synchronized LED modules lights up the area from dusk until midnight. The sounds system has more than a half million watts of power.

Several different shows are now shown during the evening and more are in productions, so don’t think that since you’ve seen it once there is no need to go back. In fact they now have the capability to show live television on the system.

Under the canopy, where there used to be street, that was closed off to create this wonder are still the hotels, casinos, shops, and eateries. And between shows they have entertainment along the area. If you are in Vegas among the glitz and glamour, this is a site that you would probably like to see, at least once.

"The most obvious and largest part of the Fremont Street Experience is the Viva Vision canopy and light show. The canopy towers 90 feet above the ground and spans the length of five football fields. Featuring more than 12 million LED modules and 555,000-watt sound system"--VEGAS.COM

This is old town Vegas, not on the strip, but south of it. Always my first destination when the sun goes down, this street is five blocks of casinos, restaurants, 99c daquiries, deep fried twinkies, and an incredible 90 foot big screen ceiling that has light/sound shows nightly.

There are always live bands, also free of charge, but the highlight is when the sun goes down and the lights go up. Every hour, 15 min. after the hour, the presentation begins on the ceiling that stretches over the street. Videos of roulettes, dancing girls, card games, women diving into martini glasses, and a plethora of all things vegas can be seen, accompanied by an amazing sound system.
