I really like this time of the year - finally, the weather is fine, it's warm and sunny, the landscape is looking so beautiful, everything so green...The only thing that kinda sucks - there are far too many good events right now! So many parties, wine and beerfests... *sigh* It's hard to decide whe…

During the winter months, my wife and I like to take short day trips to German cities located within a 3 hour drive of our home in Schweinfurt. During Easter weekend we choose Nurnberg and invited a fellow TB to meet us for the day.

Dachau, Germany -› Munich, Germany -› …
I took a trip from Munich out to Dachau (about a 25 minute train ride) to see the concentration camp. I saw the crematorium last and wrote in my journal afterwards:"Friday the 13th - what a fitting day to tour a concentration camp. I'm sitting outside the main crematorium (yes, there were 2). See…

If i could describe Rothenburg in one word, it would be "magical." Rothenburg, however, could and would never be described in one word, but several, like amazing, fantastic, mysterious, enchanting, and unimaginable. If a story of any stereotypical fairytale were set into reality, this w…

I visited my friend living in Munich so I had an opportunity to see this great city. Also I visited 3 Ludwig's castles and Salzburg, Austria. It was like to get to the fairy tale. Palaces commissioned by the Fairy tale King Ludwig to escape from reality and beautiful Bavarian nature make this trip unforgettabale

We set our alarm for 7:25am as our goal was to have showers and eat and be on the road by 8:30. But the shower was a bit of an ordeal for me. You’d think that after 37 years, I’d have that part of my daily routine down. But it’s usually the most unexpected things that can th…

Today I visited Neuschwanstein Castle. It was one of those places that I've just always wanted to see. As a kid, my brother had a poster of it on his wall, and I remember being so impressed with the look of it. It was a fairly warm day, and the hike up to the castle definitely win…

Fairy tale castles indeed! OK, I admit I was a little sceptical about how beautiful this castle could be, as everyone had raved on about it, but even I, the cynical critic, was flabbergasted. Neuschwanstein is really really beautiful - it's a beautiful white castle, set on a beautiful mountain, sur…

We took a drive South from Munich to visit
the famous Neuschwanstein castle. This
castle is said to be one of Walt Disney’s inspirations for Cinderella’s castle,
and it does appear to be something straight out of a fairy tale, once you
finally reach it. We had an issue with
our…
