Freiburg is a city in Baden-Württemberg, Germany situated on the western edge of the southern Black Forest. The central market is called the Munsterplatz and the Munster cathedral looms over it. The Munster cathedral is a fine example of both high and late Gothic architecture. It boasts stone and wood carvings, stained glass windows and a spire that you can ascend.
Freiburg has a relaxed atmosphere, which is do largely in part to the university community in the area.

Popular opinion says that Freiburg is the warmest city in Germany.

First European Surprise

Our decision is formed on the road as we leave Frankfurt. We are ditching the Bavarian region for now and headed for central Switzerland, actually southern around Lake Geneva, to meet our friend Ben. At 3am on the way there we crashed out in the rental about 1 ½ hours outside of Frankfurt. We are headed now for Frieburg, Germany, just before Basel, Switzerland and from there we will hit up Vevey, Switzerland where we will meet Ben.
