The Great white wines May 22, 2010
The tasting Room is open daily from 10am - 5pm and we have several different tasting selections to choose from. Whether you are interested in their Classic Tasting of current releases or you can have a sit down in-depth Cabernet comparison. No matter what you do, you will go away with a little bit of history after visiting. The history of Freemark Abbey began in 1886, when Josephine Marlin Tychson became the first woman to build and operate a winery in California. It has changed hands in the past years, but the quality of the wine hasn’t.

Freemark Abbey wines are made exclusively from premium grapes sourced from vineyards owned and operated by growers with long-term relationships with the winery. This, in combination with an intimate knowledge of the vineyards and the deep respect for the land, has forever served as the cornerstone of Freemark Abbey.

Freemark Abbey continues to create classic handcrafted wines from the renowned Rutherford appellation in the heart of the Napa Valley. Freemark makes some $20.00 bottles of wine that drink better than most $60.00 bottles. Maybe I shouldn't be telling them that. With a knowledgeable friendly tasting room staff, helpful amazing romantic location and heavenly wines you can both visit the winery and purchase Freemark Abbey wines with confidence The Whites are really really good although I prefer reds, but the 2008 Chardonnay was excellent. Our pourer was pretty knowledgeable about all the wines and showed us a good time. They do charge for their tastings, so I was glad to know someone and enjoyed complimentary pours. I have to admit, they pour quite a bit of wine which makes the $10 tasting well worth it. They will give you that credit if you buy 2 bottles of wines before leaving. All I can say is be safe driving home.
