Freedom Hotel Siem Reap Reviews
Homely place to stay May 22, 2010
Rather unexpectedly, this was quite a nice place to stay. The hotel’s location is very good - it is a short walk away from the riverside (where quite a few bars and restaurants are located for the evening) and there are some small shops nearby to buy bottled water, drinks, snacks etc.
The rooms have a traditional feel to them, with comfortable beds and clean sheeting. They have a little notice which you can put on your beds too - you can choose to not have your sheets changed everyday if you are staying for more than one night. This is a very environmentally friendly feature, as it’s not always essential to change your sheets everyday?! The air conditioning is average but enough to keep you cool. The mini bar is decently stocked, and their coca colas are the same price as you would pay in the local shops!! The reception area has computers for internet use - there is a small charge depending on the amount you use it for. However, it is reasonably priced and has a good speed. The reception area always has a charming and friendly dog wandering in during the evening - this might not seem like a feature but he was always nice to see around!
The bathrooms have a good selection of toiletries. The shower temperature can be cold at times, but this isn’t a bad thing in the Cambodian heat! The staff are reception are always quite friendly, make check in and check out very easy and I never had any real problems with them. They don’t serve breakfast here, for free or for an extra charge, but there is a great bakery and coffee shops which are only several minutes away. Overall, this hotel was a great place to stay and its location is perhaps its best feature.
