The glacier tour was great and a lot of fun!
Franz Josef is just a little town on the west coast of New Zealand with 300 inhabitants.But it has a nice atmosphere and also several comforable hostels. We decided to hike the Franz Josef glacier and we also thought we were fit enough to do the full day trip. I'm so happy we did this full day trip because otherwise you just don't see the real beauty of this glacier.The higher you hike the more you get to see different shapes and the really blue ice! The guide was great and while guiding us, she also told the old Maori stories about this place. We had a lot of luck with the weather, sunshine and almost no clouds which is rare in this area! But this made our trip even more amazing and the view from the top takes your breath away! |
