Had I known that I wouldn't go through passport control in Frankfurt, I
wouldn't have scheduled a 4 hour layover here. But I guess
it wasn't all that bad of a decision since the LH senator biz lounge,
which I have access to because of my status on the airline, has full
showers. Of which, I have now taken advantage. Figure, I've
indirectly paid for them with all my travel, why not? A good way,
in my estimation to hold jet lag and a minor hangover at bay.&nbs…

Just a draft....
What a night! I don' know how but I found myself on Götheplatz with a bunch of supporters (both German and Turkish!) and had no idea how to get out for about 15 minutes (actually it was the policeman's fault, he gave me wrong directions)
I loved the city, so... civilized (comparing to Poland :P) Nice people speaking English and willing to help, cool trams and lots of bikes. Damn, I haven't even left the place and I want to get back here already! I guess I will never forget…

Testing out the neat mapping feature. On April 30th, we'll be landing in Frankfurt, Germany and travelling up the Rhine to Cologne, where we'll stay the night.

I left New York with a glow. It may have something to do with cramming into the subway car like those damn sardines who have never known the meaning of personal space, with my (I hate to admit) overstuffed bag hugging my back, in the sticky 90 degree weather. But I like to think it's mostly the knocking realization of what lies before me. It all begins tonight. That is, unless you want to get technical and say it began a week ago when I (once again) left the hassle of the working world for th…

I got into Frankfurt about 8:15pm on the 7th -- Doug went on to Dusseldorf and I stayed here, as my flight back to the States the next day (today). I stayed at the Intercontinental Hotel and after flirting with the hotel clerk at bit at check in, was upgraded to a suite with a great view over the Main River and downtown.
My flight out was not until 2:30pm, so I had time to take a walk along the Main River to the older part of Frankfurt. I saw the Dom, or Cathedral, a…

It was one of those lucky coincidences, when I wanted to go to the Palmengarten just to enjoy some flowers and the quietness in the city that is always in that place. And wanted to do it before the pyramid exhibit was over. So lucky me, the had the orchid market going on and the China exhibit as well. The sun was shining so much, it felt like a summer day. Anyways, the Palmengarten is located in the middle of Frankfurt, it is a nice place to rest and relax and I enjoy it, for when it is cold …

Had four hours in the airport in frankfurt, so i decided to go outside for some fresh air. took me only 30 minutes to find my way trough the passport control and out. gotta love being norwegian, getting to choose between eu and non-eu nationals, depending on which line is shorter :DHad some great weissbier and some rosti :D you should have seen the face of the guy when i asked for the roesti, without any food with it, but he brought the goods, quite speedily too :D ater that i went out for mo…

It was only a short break and when it was time to go I really regretted it. I wish I'd had the opportunity to stay longer and maybe move around a bit. But it was off to the airport for me, getting back to boring Staines and the UK. There were a few fans with football colours on my flight, just like flying out actually. Overhearing their conversations, I was happy that they seemed to have enjoyed their stay and were apparently pleasantly surprised. That was even nicer to hear because it was tw…

The flight from Baku to Frankfurt was not too bad. I dozed off for a few minutes before the guy next to me elbowed me. Whenever i fly, there seems to be a battle over the shared armrest. While flying coach, i always wish that my shoulders were a little more narrow becaue even if I am sitting next to a little old lady who weight less than 100 pounds (about 45kg), she will suddenly think that her shoulders are broader than mine and will elbow my arm. It is even worse wh…

Finally we had summer vacation and since we were not going anywhere, we wanted to do at least something somewhat special for my daughter's b-day, so we decided to go to the Zoo in Frankfurt. The Zoo was build in the 1858 an is celebrating it's 150 years existence. For this they have a very informative exhibition of the zoo's history displayed in the birdhouse.Since we have learned a lot about animals since then, many of the animals were outquarted into other zoo's or simply certain breeds wil…

The Zoo Frankfurt opened its gate for the first time in 1858 after the local police department had approved to display wild animals in a natural environment. The Zoo is located in Frankfurt’s East End. A tube station right underneath makes it easy to reach it by public transport. During World War II, due to heavy bombings, most of the Zoo had been destroyed. Many animals (almost 90%) died and those who survived were running haggardly throughout the city. Due to Bernard Grizmek's un…

I got up early and my uncle drove me to the airport in Frankfurt. Traffic was much better now because it was early on a Sunday morning. We made it in good time and I went and killed time at the airport. There was a group of noisy Americans and I was trying my best to pretend I didn't speak English. I got out Harry Potter auf Deutsch and tried to read that while eavesdropping. I didn't have to eavesdrop because they were so noisy. One of the louder ladies as…
