The fact is, Frankfurt is the most visited city I have been in the world. The reason I am frequently there because of my work and also my main transit station to wherever I want to go next. Frankfurt is a financial centre of Germany. There are many big banks in Frankfurt city. So many businessmen come there to deal with stocks and financial matters. My personal view, Frankfurt are very different from other city in Germany, it has it own charm and lately, there are so many people go there to l...

When the snow melts in the mountains we usually get flooded a bit later in the towns and cities further downstream. These pictures were taken a few years back around January or February. Obviously this is not a 'sight' or 'attraction' of Frankfurt as such, but I thought they might be at least a little interesting anyway, documenting the flooding.

Frankfurt, Germany -› -› ...
When we stepped out of the train station on the way home, we suddenly realised the time. It was after 8 and we would be flying home in 12 hours. So we should run to bed right? Nah. Myself and Tom set off in search of any open bar. One of the downsides of staying in a red light district is, well depending on the situation, every place that was open was of course a strip club. I know what your thinking because we considered it ourselves. Its just too expensive to get a pint in those bars or s...

Egypt meets China in the Botanical Garden
posted by:
Sep 17, 2007
As usual I am close to missing an exhibition I really wanted to see, but this time it was for the better. Because shortly before the exhibition on plants of Egypt and the Pyramids ends, another exhibition is there to see. China, its plants and their use. Now, I definetely must go. So I call my side-kick and convince him to go with me - and please bring the camera. (so, half of the pictures are taken by him, especially the flower shots) Ahhh, the weather Gods are with us - sunshine, lots and l...

Ok, I finaly found a place where I could upload picturs here in ´lisbon.´ Yesterday we spend the night in the airport of ´frankfurt´, which was probably one of the wrst nights I hav ever had. We enterd the airport and this german immigrationservice woman comes to Javier and ask him all these questions and ask him to come with her. While the plane was full, he was the only one to be taken of there. I waited out side for about 10 minutes and this german guy comes up to me with this straight...

Well, we arrived in Frankfurt with no problem. Kerry had printed out the map of the Frankfurt airport as we had both heard horror stories about it being hard to navigate.  We got our luggage straight away no problems, and do you know that my now svelte 51.5 lb suitcase STILL had a heavy tag on it!!! Obviously there is a picture of me and the monstrosity on a computer system that must pop up when I enter an airport cause that is just crazy!!!  And on a side n...

Our trip ended where it started just at a different hotel in Frankfurt. We had our last dinner and hung out and talked with what was left of our group which included 2 tables full. It was great talking with everyone and got our last pictures of everyone. The answers to the rest of my questions from the beginning; well 1-3 were answered in entry #2 and the rest: 4) Will the members of our tour group like us? yes, most of them did and we all got along great and have exchanged emails and trying...

Don't you just love Germany and Germans? Who else would have a word like fruhschoppen? And what might that word mean I hear you cry? (Go on, cry then!) There certainly isn't an equivalent word in English. In general terms it means early shopping but it doesn't refer to shopping in the actual sense. Some bars describe buying wine by the glass as schoppen. Which leads us to the real meaning of the word, which is to drink alcoholic drinks before midday. Yes indeed - Germans take their drin...

Something to remember
posted by:

Where to start? I think it's a good time that i put some pictures where i've been in the year of 2005, 2006 and 2007. Before that it was too hard for me, coz i had tough months to process my broken relationship. Ok, i admit, i still think of her. But my feelings for her are getting less and less... The strange thing is, when i listen to songs i remember her, it's getting a bit vague. I'm trying to concentrate harder to remember the moments we shared, while i shouldn't. I like to share i...

Parade der Kulturen
posted by:

On Staruday, the 21.06.2008 Frankfurt held the Parade of the Cultures for the 6th time.  As every year clubs of Frankfurt get together to organize a parade through Frankfurt as a sign that the Neo-Nazis are not wanted here. They consider the parade a sign to show to whom Frankfurt really belongs - a city that understand itself as a city of all nations. Unfortunately, I still have my old not-so-good camera, but lots of motivation. I missed the very beginning of the parade, because my mom ...

So what to do on New Years Day when Germany has basically shut down for the duration?   A less than early morning start revealed that the general plague of flu and cold infecting our little band of happy travellers was showing no signs of abating.  That said we're on holiday and we can hardly spend the day just moping about in the flat doing nothing.   So after a bit of bargaining it was decided we should take advantage of what was billed as The Kings Trail or something.&nb...

We took the train from Bordesholm to Hamburg to Stuttgart the day after our fossil adventure.  It was relaxing for us.  We shared a table with two little girls heading home from Holiday with Oma and Opa.  They were well behaved and even offered us some of their cookies.  They were so cute!  When the younger one finally realized we don't really speak German, she started practicing her English.  She would say quietly to her sister, "Hello I am from England.  I...
