Franconia NH was the home of The Old Man On The Mountain wich fell off on May 3 2003 R.I.P. This face can still be seen on the states quater and inspired Nathiel Hawthorne to write Th Great Stone Face.
Franconia also has Cannon Mountain wich has a Lift that will take you to the summit of Cannon Mountain. The lift was Built in the mid to late 1930's and was the first in North America. In addition to Cannon Mountain it also countains 3 mountains of the "Presidential Range" a series of 4,000 ft Mountains. Mount Layfeyett, Mount Lincoln, and Mount Garfield. Part of the White Mountain National Forest also lies in Franconia.
In the fall The "Leaf Peepers" Flock to this reagion to watch the the colorful foliage as the maple trees turn scarlet red and a beautiful gold.

These are hiking pics from the Franconia Ridge Trail. It is a 7.5 mile loop with 2700 feet of gain, culminating at the top of Mt. Lafayette (4200 ft). It took me 5 hours.
