Correctly named Franciscan monastery of the fourteen Holy Helpers, this is a National Czech Heritage site. It is located about a 10 minutes walk west of the old town of Kadan, either along Jan Svermy street (or through Smetana park along the Way of the Cross), or along the Ohre riverside promenade. The monastery goes back to a chapel from 1469, to which the Franciscan monks added a first building in 1473. The church was consecrated in 1480. Patrons of the monastery were the nobles of Lobkowicz, who are also buried there. The monastery was profaned in 1950, after the fall of the wall the Franciscan order got it back and a few monks returned. They only lived there until 1994. The monastery was handed over to the diocese Litomerice, they rented it out to the city of Kadan. The city authorities decided to restore the monastery and now it is home of a music school and city museum. Viticulture was revived, there is also a small restaurant in the monastery's garden.

Absolutely stunning are the cellular vaults - the oldest in the Czech Republic - and the frescoes in the church, created by co-workers of Lucas Cranach. Worth more than one look are the works of art that decorate the graves of the Lobkowicz family.
