Francia Hotel Oaxaca

My first visit since the renovation and addition of the hotel next door was December of 2007. I had stayed at Hotel Francia more than a dozen times since the 1970s. Hotel Francia has an excellent location, just a few blocks from the square, markets and museums. There is a barber shop and laundry around the corner. There are 5 restaurants within a block of this hotel. I had always found the on site restaurant to serve a great breakfast at an affordable price with fast friendly service. The renovations and addition of adjacent hotel were of no value to me. I consider it over priced at $60.00 per night. There are at least 6 hotels as well located with equal amenities and services for $40.00 per night or less. I only stayed one night and moved to a newly renovated hotel immediately across the street from the Mercado 20 de Novembre. This hotel is much smaller than Hotel Francia but with secure off-street parking at my room. The rooms with two beds are a little cramped. The baths are very adequate. Very good staff. Very clean facility. $42 per night. I was able to get a better price for multiple nights. I have not located my notes for this hotel, so the name is not available at this time. (I will update later.) However, it is newly painted in a coral and blue colors.
