My pre-birthday celebrations!!! Oh and Bastille eve
posted by:

Happy Birthday to me! Well...not so much a happy birthday to me! We were supposed to get up at 7am so we could get good seats for the parade...yeah that DID NOT HAPPEN! I woke up at 8:30am on the bathroom floor. After eventually making it to my bed I didn't wake up again until 11:30. I have never felt so ill in my whole life. Spent some more quality time with my good friend, the toilet. Well I guess this is what you get for partying a little too hard but oh man was I …

The Louvre (French: Musée du Louvre) in Paris, France, is one of the most famous and most visited art museums. The collection contains nearly 35,000 pieces displayed over the structure's 60,000 square metres (650,000 sq ft). The museum is on the Right Bank, in the neighborhood referred to as the 1st arrondissement which lies between the Seine River and the Rue de Rivoli. The structure originated as the palace during the Capetian dynasty under the reign of Philip II …

Free hugs from Paris (5)

(cont'd...) This is part five of my Paris blog and I may finally end it here, or not. With all the stunning places and things to witness in Paris - as a tourist, and one who is inclined to writing - I can still weave more words to describe our trip experience we had of the city including its beautiful people. After a quick sidetrip to  Montmartre area to see Sacred Heart Basilica on its superbly windy and highly-elevated location, and the very historic Moulin R…

From Moulin Rouge to its eclectic bazaar, Paris still exudes in characterful places (4)

(cont'd...) Paris, France is unbelievably a city magnet to tourists. There was never a public attraction we went absent of someone without a camera in his hands. Here, the atmosphere was friendly and relax. As a matter of fact, this is one of the cities I have never felt uncomfortable going anywhere since such ease was prominent from all the faces we've met in public places. Before the trip, I had put French people in an unfair impression. I w…

Paris or bust

Yea! I am done with the working portion of my trip. You'll have to read on to find out about the dessert part.  :-) I started work at 7am today, which is VERY early for Paris.  The subway is amazing at 6:30 in the morning as there were only two other people in my car, if I lived here I would make an effort to get to work early. Not much else to say about work, the morning went quickly, mostly just following up with people I had met earlier in the week.  I left the o…

Europe -› Lima, Peru -› ...
When I first met Krish in Santiago last December, I would never think she would become a real friend that I would meet back in my homecoutry 8 monthes later. After spending a couple of weeks in Peru at mines in February, we said each other: "OK, we have to meet back. " Thats what we made, when I told her that I would come back in France for my vacations, She said "OK, I catch a eurostar and I meet you in Paris with my friend Nilesh, you - insert here a krish-made insult -"The D-day, I was wai…

On to Paris

Today we have another full day of touring around Paris. Luckily it started late, because we were very late getting in last night and were very tired.  Breakfast at the hotel was pretty good today, and finally we were on the bus for our morning tour, a nice around town tour of the sights of Paris.  The Opera, Arc de Triomphe, Champs-Elysees were just a couple of the highlights.  Being the old city it is there are so many wonderful sights to see and the architecture is so marvelo…

Since I actually only have one thing to rave about at the moment, let us accenuate the positive!  And that would be the amazing warmth of 70-80 degree weather in the French Riviera.  It's so warm, people are laying out on the beach.  Mostly middle-aged men in Speedos, but I swear, this is still a rave because it reminds me of all those sunny weekend afternoons Vinny (shoutout, as requested) and I spent in Dolores Park.  Just like being home.  Awww.Or maybe today we'll…

Walking the labyrinth

Chartres is famous. World famous. It is one of the most exceptional cathedrals ever build. It hides a thousand of mysteries, legends and unravelled secrets. It shows the most beautiful architecture, statues and craftwork. It has supreme acoustics. It is pure magic. The first time I saw it's towers rising up on the horizon, was when our bus stopped in the middle of flowery fields. Yellow blossoms waved in the wind and far, far from us laid our destiny: Chartres. The last 20 kilometres…

We decide to cross the Lorient Bay this morning to go…

Solo traveling to the city of romance

It was a gloomy morning. I hope it will not rain heavily during the day. I decided to skip the breakfast since I wasn't feeling hungry. I opened my travel book and noticed the area Beaubourg and Les Halles have some modern contemporary places, as well as Renaissance styles of architecture. It should be interesting! Before I started my day, I noticed that the duffle bag that I bought from Oxford was broken. Long story cut short, I left my suitcase in U.K. because it was too big to fit in Steve…
