My father had a close Friench friend. He'd come to Japan and visited our house. I wanted to see him in Paris, but he had a serious sick, so his wife came to see me. Though she couldn't speak English and I couldn't speak French, we hugged tightly each other. I hadn't visited Paris since then, so I belive that meeting might have been a once-in-a-lifetime event.

Concerning the flight over from San Francisco to Paris, I only recall a few things. The first thing I remember is that part of the airplane was falling apart. Only a few minutes after liftoff, part of the ceiling on the interior of the plane shook loose. It was only a tiny piece of the inside paneling that came loose, and not some gaping hole in the structure of the plane that sucked people outside to their dooms, but it was disconcerting nonetheless. I remember taking a picture of the ...

We got up fairly (!!) early and my sister decided she wasn't in the mood for art. So, we left her at the hotel. Me and my Mam went shoe-shopping first cos my Mam's feet were killing her in sandles (and it was pissing rain). We found a shop that sold designer trainers for half what you'd pay in Ireland. That's strange for Paris cos it's usually so expensive. But we were still in Montmartre and I found that the shop there aren't as over-priced as in the city centre. Anyway we bought some comfy ...

So I went to Bavella on the 11th (even if the location is set as Ajaccio - it was too difficult to find it on the map here!)We went for what was spposedly a three hour walk, but was in fact only two (although we admittedly stopped for lunch, and the climbing took a bit of time as well - to be explained in a minute!)So we did the walk called 'La Trou de la Bombe' (it had a Corsican name but I have apparently already forgotten it!) Which involved a fairly easy walk with a rather large hol...

Dominating the city of Geneva but located in France is the Saleve mountain with its impressive cliffs facing the Jura mountains. The French-Swiss border runs parallel to the cliff, about one kilometre away from it. From the top of Saleve there is a beautiful 360 degree panorama with on one side Geneva, Lake Leman and the Jura, and on the other side the Alps and Mont Blanc. It is possible to drive there or take a cable car from Le Pas de l'Echelle / Veyrier. But you can also walk to ...

It was a nearly 100-meter-high cliff, with perpendicular sides jutting out into the Channel. It looked down on Utah Beach to the left and Omaha Beach to the right. There were six 155mm cannon in heavily reinforced concrete bunkers that were capable of hitting either beach with their big shells. On the outermost edge of the cliff, the Germans had an elaborate, well-protected outpost, where the spotters had a perfect view and could call back coordinates to the gunners at the 155s. Those guns ha...

This was a bus trip that my daughter and I took together. Although I'm not fond of bus tours, this one was not so bad. My daughter and I actually had a good time on this trip despite the tempermental weather we experienced along the way. Paris is such a beautiful and wonderful city and we really enjoy ourselves here no matter what time of year or weather. I was actually brave enough to go to the top of the Eiffel Tower this time. It was scary at first, but oh so ...

In the south-east of Corsica (France), near from the touristic city of Porto-Vecchio, there is a small seaside village named Pinarellu. A beautiful place where I live somedays in the year.Enjoy the visit and let me know your opinion ;-)

Since I actually only have one thing to rave about at the moment, let us accenuate the positive! And that would be the amazing warmth of 70-80 degree weather in the French Riviera. It's so warm, people are laying out on the beach. Mostly middle-aged men in Speedos, but I swear, this is still a rave because it reminds me of all those sunny weekend afternoons Vinny (shoutout, as requested) and I spent in Dolores Park. Just like being home. Awww.Or maybe today we'll...

We decide to cross the Lorient Bay this morning to go...

The Louvre (French: Musée du Louvre) in Paris, France, is one of the most famous and most visited art museums. The collection contains nearly 35,000 pieces displayed over the structure's 60,000 square metres (650,000 sq ft). The museum is on the Right Bank, in the neighborhood referred to as the 1st arrondissement which lies between the Seine River and the Rue de Rivoli.
The structure originated as the palace during the Capetian dynasty under the reign of Philip II ...

When I first met Krish in Santiago last December, I would never think she would become a real friend that I would meet back in my homecoutry 8 monthes later. After spending a couple of weeks in Peru at mines in February, we said each other: "OK, we have to meet back. " Thats what we made, when I told her that I would come back in France for my vacations, She said "OK, I catch a eurostar and I meet you in Paris with my friend Nilesh, you - insert here a krish-made insult -"The D-day, I was wai...

Chartres is famous. World famous. It is one
of the most exceptional cathedrals ever build. It hides a thousand of mysteries,
legends and unravelled secrets. It shows the most beautiful architecture,
statues and craftwork. It has supreme acoustics. It is pure magic.
The first time I saw it's towers rising up on the horizon, was when our bus
stopped in the middle of flowery fields. Yellow blossoms waved in the wind and
far, far from us laid our destiny: Chartres.
The last 20 kilometres...
