Rob's Birthday!!! Cannes, France, Monaco and Monte Carlo Yup! Today is Rob's birthday! Whoo-hoo! Happy Birthday my handsome man! We had an amazing adventure filled with train rides, photos, hot sunny days, rain and running to catch the last tender of the ship! It started with a stroll through Cannes to get to the train station. I was able to show Rob parts of Cannes that I knew, but everything was closed still. No worries, we'll check it out when we get back from Monaco. We headed towa…

Bon soir everyone!Haven't updated in forever so figured it's about time. I've been back in Paris since Thursday night, having spent the previous 2 nights in Saint-Malo which is a NW coastal town in the Bretagne region of France. I'll backfill entries for that and my last visit to Paris momentarily. This entry will cover Thursday night through tonight, April 8.After my rainy first day in France, the weather has been nothing short of amazing - warm but not too hot with sunshine practically past…

Holy Crap Im in Europe (and I cant figure out how to use this French keyboard)

So today was our last full day to see Paris / enjoy life in Europe. The first stop of the day was to find the mini Statue of Liberty. We walked along the river until we found the island it sits on. It was bigger than I thought but still much smaller than the original. We took a sweet picture of it with the Eiffel Tower in the background, from another bridge farther down the river.I had seen a postcard of La Defense area of the city, which is a business district. The guidebooks don't really me…

A perfect day in Paris
posted by:
Apr 05, 2007 - Apr 11, 2007
We ate breakfast at the hotel again because it was SO FREAKING GOOD and then we walked around the city a little bit before we had to make out journey to Charles de Gaulle. We made a mistake and didn't buy the right metro tickets because I just wanted to use up the carne des billets. Once we got to the station at the airport, we had to get through the metro ticket receiver thing to pass into the airport, but since we didn't have the right tickets, it wouldn't let us in. We walked around…

On to Paris
posted by:
May 15, 2005 - Jun 14, 2005
Our day in Paris started much later than the rest of the tour. We were actually able to "sleep in".  Without the long ride, we had a nice around town tour of the sights of Paris.  The Opera, Arc de Triomphe, Champs-Elysees.  Being the old city it is there are so many wonderful sights to see and the architecture is so marvelous. The tour also included tickets to the second level of the Eiffel Tower.  That gave us a wonderful, birds-eye view of Paris.  But it also showe…

It's had to have happened to you.  You're running late and you find yourself stuck in traffic behind some old dude going 25 miles an hour in the wrong lane with the wrong blinker on.  Most likely you're in Florida.  And then there's always the white-haired guy that's dragging his leg down an aisle in front of you thus delaying you're acquisition of the latest organic whatever or a coffee that requires a r…

Corsica 2007: Ajaccio Travel Photos
posted by:
Jun 09, 2007 - Aug 18, 2007
So I went to Bavella on the 11th (even if the location is set as Ajaccio - it was too difficult to find it on the map here!)We went for what was spposedly a three hour walk, but was in fact only two (although we admittedly stopped for lunch, and the climbing took a bit of time as well - to be explained in a minute!)So we did the walk called 'La Trou de la Bombe' (it had a Corsican name but I have apparently already forgotten it!) Which involved a fairly easy walk  with a rather large hol…

Immediatly after the flight from Spain
posted by:
Dec 20, 2005 - Jul 06, 2008
I figured that this would be my first entry in the journal of Paris.  For anyone who has read any of my previous entires then you most likely know that this will have some sort of humor.  Trust me this is one.  If you enjoyed the Spain story then you'll love this one.  I will in later entries be telling the story of the day prior, but this is the story that I felt like writting today.  EVERYTHING IS TRUE. This day was not like any other day in Paris.  The night…

The first day we did the city of nimes.   First we saw The Maison Carrée,  a well preserved Roman temple built in 19-16 BC.   Then we headed on over the the Amphitheatre, another well preserved structure from the roman Empire.  After walking around the city we headed out to Pont Du Gard.   That is the aqueduct built by the romans.
