Paris oh, la, la!

Maybe this visit to Paris didn’t start as great as the others, but I enjoyed it and felt sad about the idea of leaving this city… Paris will always be Paris and I’ll be back – hopefully sooner than later ;)   I checked out, left my bag at the hostel and went out for my last walk around Paris. I wanted to see the Pompidou Centre. It’s just an architectural wonder, so colorful, with amazing shapes… not only impressive for an architect. I’m not one, and was really impressed ...

Pre Bastille Day Party in Paris

I met up with Derek to check out the Catacombs, luckily they have just reopened and we could both visit properly... Catacombs are trully eary and spooky, they are the site where bodies where kept when a large part of paris was getting sick.  They built an underground lair, and when you walk through it you have a sense that everything is a bit too neat.  Once you get through what seems to be a never ending spiral staircase, you walk through the labirynth of narrow halls and then you...

Paris, France Tour 2008
posted by:
Mar 14, 2008 - Mar 20, 2008
Europe, a continent which I’ve been dreaming of to step into since childhood and France, the most wanted destination to be visited by tourists, I didn’t expect to visit Paris as soon as I’m still in college. But I’ve done it; I’ve visited Paris, the land of love. It was perhaps one of my most memorable experiences I’ve ever had in my life. It’s a dream come true! From the time that we are having meetings about the tour, I’ve been so excited to step i...

9:02am Wednesday June 30, 2004   “I am just sitting on the Eurostar waiting for it to depart Paris. In about 20 minutes I will officially be leaving Paris. I’m not sure how I feel about leaving. I will miss Paris and my adventures but I really miss home. I miss my bed and all my stuff. I miss my cell phone, my car and even my job. Last night was just really chill. We hung out for a while, found a pizza place to get pizza from then Matt and I played a couple rounds of King’s Cor...

Alone in Paris: Paris Travel Photos
posted by:
Nov 27, 2006 - Nov 29, 2006
I've always imagined that my first trip to Paris would be with my future husband on our honeymoon. I have pictured the two of us holding hands walking by the Eiffel Tower, saying cheesy lines to each other, marvelling at the sights, and buying crepes and croissants from every patisserie we find along the way.  After all, Paris is all about love and romance (and food) right? But apparently, I have this patience problem and just couldn't wait for that, so last November 2006, I d...

My First Day in France
posted by:
Jul 02, 2007 - Sep 28, 2007
After some serious reflections, I decided that I do like the metro in Paris after all. Its complicated, but you just concentration, and you'd be able to get wherever you want to in a quick minute. I have also learnt how to feign the look of a Parisien, and stopped carrying maps wherever I went to. Today, I was called a 'salope' = bitch on the streets near the Eiffel tower after I told an odd looking uncle to scram away in French when he started speaking to me. I am sure he was after 1) cigare...

An early morning walk along the lake side
posted by:
Aug 10, 2008
It’s so good to be back home, to meet again with family & friends, and enjoy the magnificent scenery around the lake of Annecy! This first morning of my visit I woke up early because of the jet lag so went for a little walk along the lake side and into the old city. It was a perfect morning and at this time of the day it was incredibly quiet. The light was amazing. I knew that later in the day the area would be packed with tourists and locals coming for a stroll. What a fantastic way ...

Now I am studying Sports, Health and Management but before this I studied Tourism & Leisure Management in the city of Eindhoven. In my 4th year I went to France to complete one of my 2 trainingperiods. I stayed in France for a little over 5 months. During that time I worked at a campsite in the south of France in a town called Lectoure. It’s a very small charming french village in the countryside. Another of our TravBuddy members, Zen (Laura) let me know that she had a few pictures with too many people in them. So I downloaded them, printed them out and then grabbed them and shook the pictures so hard that the people just couldn't hold on and fell right off the photos. What do you think? And you can try this your self. Just pick up a picture and with your right hand, (I suppose you could use your left if you are a southpaw) and begin shaking. Keep it up until all of the people have sli...

I only have exactly 12 hours in Paris.. From the moment the plane lands until it takes off again.. Such a short time, but I don't wanna stay inside the hotel room for my first time visit to the most romantic city on earth. Our hotel is near the airport and taking the train is quite convenient going to the city.  Almost an hour ride, I arrived at the St. Michel-Notre Dame RER station, took another train that leads me to Eiffel.  But it wasn't easy as it sounds, I'm quite confuse...
