Paris was a very fun place to visit. My very first impression of the city was, "wow, there's a lot of people (tourist) here". This actually made me happy with the fact that I went against my professor's advice to study in Paris and I went to live in Nantes instead. I wanted to live in a big enough city but without the huge crowds. I went with a couple of friends from my program and we did most of the things tourist do... of course our first stop was the Eiffel Tower which I liked, I kin…

"Aux Champs-Elysées, aux Champs-Elysées, Au soleil, sous la pluie, à midi ou à minuit, Il y a tout ce que vous voulez aux Champs-Elysées" - from Joe Dassin's "Aux Champs Elysees". Our early evening walk along Champs Elysees Boulevard was nothing short of romantic. Moreover, I could say that our Paris experience has become the centrepiece of our European tour.
It was already past seven in the evening in Paris when we alighted from our train that departed from Luxembourg City hour or so e…

I decided that I was going to do something huge for my 21st birthday and since the opportunity came up to go to Europe, I took it. Some people thought I was nuts for going by myself but I have no regrets as it was the greatest birthday/trip anyone could ask for!

I had never visited the Chateau de Versailles so had to do something about it! Had only seen it from outside when, as a military conscript, we had practised marching for the 14th of July during an entire week in that locality, and headed to the Champs Elysees to do our show.Unfortunately the day we visited the Chateau with some friends, the weather was terrible. It didn't stop raining... So we did not spend much time in the gardens, nor did we visit the "Petit Hameau".
I felt sorry for the p…

The last weekend that I was in Paris was spent partying and good bye-ing. On my last morning in town, Alex, Salem, Salem's visiting cousins and I went to Breakfast in America one last time for me to bid farewell to Darren and Craig. See my review for more information on this amazing place.(I am happy to note that as of summer 2006, milk shakes are officially on the menu. Darren informs me this was my doing, as I insisted on them so much back when I was living there that he f…

From the little I saw, it was a city worth exploring, unfortunately I did not have the time for it.

Once the playground and favorite residence of the French kings, princes, dukes and nobles the glorious Loire Valley is a dream destination where every brick is breathing with history. With its magnificent Chateuax, beautiful landscape, delicious food and wine it is a true paradise for those who really enjoy life!

We've all been there...tired, travel worn, late in the evening with no place to sleep and no plan whatsoever. I had spent the day exploring Omaha Beach and the American Cemetary and was so captivated by the gravity of the place that I'd given precious little thought to where I would stay for the evening. The thought of guys slogging through the surf against a hail of MG-42 machine gun fire... of them laying up against the sea wall next to their dead buddy and then mustering courag…

I first visited Paris in April, 1997. I had only a few days to spend in this magnificent city and vowed to return when I would have more time.
Fast forward several years to 2005. Over the course of three years, I desperately searched for information regarding my paternal family history. To my delight it all fell into place in one single day! After sharing this information with my sisters, we decided that it was time to plan a trip to the fatherland, France.
Unlike me, my sisters never had…

Beautiful city. Definitely a place for couples. Most of the Parisians were the only flaw of Paris (only 2 Parisians were nice to me).

Bonjour from Paris! I have just a bit of time to write before the day begins, so let me try to fill y'all in on the adventure so far -
We have been here since early Tuesday morning. We arrived without incident from Atlanta, all tired but excited to be here. We walked around the Jardins de Luxembourg and Saint Sulpice Tuesday afternoon, a short walk from our hotel in the Latin quarter. Our hotel is very nice; breakfast (which I just ate!) is delicious - fresh baguettes and croissants every m…

When we took Eurostar, it will make a stop at Lille. Out of curiousity, we planned a daytrip on train and like to find out more about this city which is situated on the Deûle River, near France's border with Belgium.
