France, Holland, Spain and Romania - Europe - TravBuddy

Hola!

So far, each of the countries I´ve visited in Europe - I loved. Here´s a short review with a few ¨Musts¨.

France: Paris is definately a must. It´s a beautiful city with excellent food and museums. Apart for the well known museum, Having a walk at sunset by the Siene river is a beautiful experience and the parks are wonderful as well. Look for the natural history museum (at some old university building), it´s great fun. EuroDisney is good fun for grown-up kids as well as young ones.

Holland: Well, actually I´ve only been to Amsterdam (will soon see a bit more of Holland. The Heiniken factory is a must, so is Van-Goch museum (the best I´ve ever been to). Visit a coffee shop (pretty much goes without saying) and look for the Albert keup market and the second hand flea market - both are nice. The information at the Cental bus station is very helpfull. Do not go alone to the Red-light district and stay away from stranges...

Romania: You can read a bit about it in my travel blog. I recommend spending as little time as possible in Bucarest. The north (Sinaia, Bran, Brashov and beyond...) is beautiful and relatively cheap. Go hiking in the Carpat mountains and eat all the wonderful Romanian dishes: Chiorba (soup), Mameliga (corn polenta), Sarmales (stuffed cabbage), etc...

Spain: So far I´ve only been to Barcelona (still here!) and it´s great, though VERY expensive. It´s very recommended to get here on time for any of the fiestas, religious holidays that are celebrated in a very colorful and cheerful way. Visiting one of Antonio Gaudi houses is a must, and, of course eating the local dishes. I love Barri Gothic and Barri Gracia as well.

General tips:
- save up because europe is expensive
- book accomodation well ahead for the ¨hot season¨ (less needed in Romania)
- Take some travellers checks, just to be on the safe side, people do tend to get robbed in Barcelona and Amsterdam.
