Foxa Tres Cantos Hotel Reviews
Comfortable dwelling with lush interior outside Madrid Oct 25, 2009
The hotel is located next to Tres Cantos train station, about a 4 minute walk to it, actually. It is not on the tourist map of Madrid, as it is a good distance out, but getting into Madrid's center (say, Sol) takes about 30 minutes. Getting from airport on taxi will cost you about 40 euros. Getting from Sol area to the hotel at night will cost about 35 euros. One thing to note in getting directions to drivers, some of their GPS systems mistakenly put the hotel on the wrong side of the railroad and at 5 am it can be a little daunting to explain how to get to it.
I have not explored the area much, but right next to the train station there is also a grocery store, so some necessities can be had there.
Despite being right at the train tracks, it is very quiet here save for the incoming train alarm which you start to ignore after the first hour.
The room I was staying at was rather large, with a hallway and bathroom separate from the main room. The decor is quite different from what one would expect from outside and fits rather nicely. There are Chinese and 18th(?) century European motives all throughout. Attached pictures can describe it better!
The bathroom is stocked with soap, razor, comb, some face wash and moisturizer. For those that care, the cosmetics all have parabens in them.
The bathtub is large and has a considerable number of jets for your perusal. It rocks!
I have not had a chance to check them out myself, but apparently there is an awesome large gym here as well as tennis courts on the roof.
So far had only breakfast in the morning and was left satisfied. You have your regular variation on the eggs, 8-10 cold cut meats, some fruits, breads, 4 juices, cereal, yogurt and deserts.
No complaints. As an English/Russian speaker, my Spanish involves mostly blinking, and there is always someone on staff that speaks English to help me out.
Somehow, the room does not have a single folder putting together all the necessary information. There is no phone directory inside the hotel, what services are offered and their times or pretty much anything besides in-room dining menu and pillow selection menu. The dining menu does mention the reception phone number though, it's 600.
